1977-1982 Away Player Shirt
The V-neck collar shirts were used between 1977-1982. Except for the 1979-1980 and 1980-1981 season the shirts come with the HITACHI sponsor in front, shirts of this v-neck non-sponsored style were used till 1982. Only genuine player shirts have embroidered club crest and embroidered UMBRO motif.
Liverpool 1977-1982 Away Player Shirt - Numbered 11 shirt belongs to Graeme Souness.
In our glorious old days, the V-neck collar style away shirts were worn between 1977-1982, in which the shirts bear no sponsorship for the seasons 1977-1979 and 1981-1982.
If we view from the inner side, the effect of embroidery is more conspicous.
According to my observations on the widely available (and highly priced) replica shirts, the Liverbird on the replicas can either be felt embossed or embroidered. But the UMBRO logo and letters on the replica shirts I have seen are felt embossed. And only on a players shirt you can find it beautifully embroidered.
As usual, the collar tag of UMBRO era Liverpool player shirt is different from the replicas. Size information is always written in WORDS (MEN) instead of numbers in inches.
The numbers on the backside are machine-stitched pieces of cloth.
