Crownpaints had been the sponsorship of Liverpool since 1983. Stepping in the season 1987-1988, the contract was not renewed and thus it was the last season of Crownpaints sponsorship. This is a relative rare players shirt as this crossover-neck style away shirt was used in one season only.

This is a relative rare players shirt as this crossover-neck style home shirt was used in one season only, that is 1987-88. The previous Crownpaints home shirt was used between 1985-87 seasons and the next kit was changed to have Candy instead as sponsor, even though retaining the crossover-neck design.

As always, a stitch-on cloth number on the backside is a good indicator that the shirt is a geniune players shirt.
If we view from the inner side, we can see the embroideries of both the club crest and manufacturer motif.
